The second article, Arizona back as U.S.'s fastest-growing state, from the East Valley Tribune, also reports on the latest U.S. Census numbers and adds that 1985 was the last year that Nevada wasn't the number one state. In terms of raw numbers, Arizona placed fifth with 213,000 population gain, while Texas came in first adding 580,000 residents to its population. The recent growth pushed Arizona's population past two statistical milestones: the state's population exceeding 6 million people, and adding more than 1 million residents since 2000. During that time span, 541,283 people moved here from other states!
